Kevin, part of the trick to Twitter is finding the balance between giving people what they want (which is really what we all want - feedback that someone is listening) and creating measurable interaction leading to either influence (very difficult to rate) and/or sales (not so difficult to rate). Paying it forward can be difficult; especially when we're all looking for the ROI for each second we have. For me it's quality vs. quantity and in relationships we all know which one will take you further. How else would I have crossed paths with you?

This makes perfect sense. It's all about using the tools appropriately, rather than focusing only on the new, sexy ones

I just gained my BA in Leadership and Ethics. I also just joined twitter, and LinkedIn in hopes I am doing the right thing for head-hunters. Thank you for the conformation.

IMHO, Twitter still has a lot to prove. It takes too much time to stay on top of it, without there being some clear return on the investment

Extremely interesting article and certainly food for thought. How do we feel existing in a society that is becoming increasingly Big Brother dominated? I'm certainly uncomfortable with it. Can we really say what we do in our own homes and in our own time is private & our own affair? It should be but apparently not..........

I'm in sales, and I've found that Facebook and many other sites can give me an edge. Assuming I can find the people I'm looking for! Not everyone is out there, but it seems to be getting easier to locate people. How long before these sites are built right into the CRM systems, I wonder?
